Deconstructed Suit

Hello, and welcome back to my blog page. Today we’re going to be discussing suits. Okay, I couldn’t last with the seriousness too long. Well, we are going to be talking suits, specifically one suit, so that part was genuine. BUT Hello everyone, how are ya? I hope your week was awesome, mine left something to be desired that’s for sure! This week I decided it was finally time to wear the suit that I had been holding on to for quite some time. I’m not really super into suits, but I have seen the rise in trend over the last year. So, I thought I would show you guys how I styled my suit together and separately. Suits are not in my regular work repertoire, but I have an intense fascination with wearing a suit to a formal event with some type of lacey bodysuit and some sky-high stilettos. That’s going to stay a fantasy for a while because me and sky-high stilettos do not typically work out, I do the weird buckle that Kevin Hart talked about in his comedy special.

Nevertheless, here I am showing you this suit that was inexpensive and stylish from none other than (drum roll please) Target! I went to Target by myself (first mistake), and I saw the blazer initially. I thought it was gorgeous, great for Fall, great for work, great for casual wear, just great in general. I happened to go to a different Target and discovered the pants; they, unfortunately, didn’t have my size but never fret I found them online and ordered them expeditiously. The first time I saw the full outfit together on my body, I was floored at how great it looked. The blazer has one button and has functional pockets that you just have to pull to pop the seam. The pants have the devil’s contraption – 2 clasps, a button, and a zipper – that are amazing to hold your pants up but terribly inconvenient when you need to use the little restroom. The color is gorgeous, sort of pumpkin spice if you’re into that. The pattern is plaid and very Fall! Unfortunately, I couldn’t wear it in the Fall because it was almost nonexistent in Baltimore. Anyway, onto the pictures, I know why you guys are here!

Full suit: paired with a lace top, also from Target, and nude Jessica Simpson heels. Yes, you read that right! If you’ve read my previous blog posts, you know that I have a love-hate relationship with Jessica Simpson’s shoes. These heels, however, weren’t as uncomfortable! This I would wear to maybe an interview, a more business-like event, or to the living room on Thanksgiving (just kidding).

Suit Bottom: paired with a white sweater from Target, they should sponsor me at this point and my favorite tan boots. Cozy and comfortable, that’s all I have to say.

Blazer: paired with jeans from Eloquii, off-white shirt…from Target, and platform Fenty Pumas. Because I’m such a casual person, I always want to feature casual looks in my blogs. I always tell people; I don’t look like my blog posts every day. I am very much a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, so showing you guys looks that I would typically wear is where it’s at for me!

Beans, Greens, Potatoes, Tomatoes

Guys! Did you know that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday? Probably not and that’s okay but now you know! I don’t just love the holiday for the large amounts of mac and cheese, but because it’s one of the holidays where everyone gathers and it’s not because they got a gift waiting. You see your family in one room, and everyone is extremely happy, laughing, and talking. You always see that one cousin that you don’t really talk to daily but when you get together it’s nothing but good vibes. The home that you go to smells like love and happiness. I just absolutely adore Thanksgiving. So, I thought it would be fitting to discuss Thanksgiving outfits. Now, everyone’s family is different. Some Thanksgiving dinners are super upscale, so you have to wear your absolute best clothing. Some are less upscale and because you live in the host home, you’re probably going to wear pajamas. My family is somewhere in between, we dress nice, but nobody is coming to dinner dripped in diamonds and pearls. We are comfortable classy, which is right up my alley.

For the outfits I chose to feature in this year’s Thanksgiving looks, I made sure comfort was the driving force. Being as comfortable as possible, but also extremely stylish. I think nothing is worse than sitting there at the table eating your food while you feel uncomfortable in the clothing that you’re wearing! When you’re getting asked those awkward questions about your life, you want to be 100% comfortable in your clothes.

First Outfit: Dark green pants, grey wide V-neck sweater, and snakeskin boots. This is one of those comfortable outfits that you can be really safe in. There aren’t any holes in the pants, so your grandmother won’t ask you if you bought your jeans like that if you ripped them up yourself. The sweater is super comfortable as well, but very, very warm! It’s easy to sweat in it.

Second Outfit: White sweater dress and tan booties. Honestly, this dress felt great to put on. The color is dangerous if you’re a messy eater, but the comfort is bar none. Be careful when raising your arms as the dress rides up and you do not want to expose yourself.

Third Outfit: Plaid pinafore dress, black ribbed t-shirt, and brown booties. I felt like I was going to school in this outfit. The colors are definitely fall-themed and the look I thought was adorable! I felt kind of young in this particular outfit, but I was so with it.

Fourth Outfit: Black, white, and silver dress, with over-the-knee black boots. This dress is so heavy! It is super warm and not as itchy as you would think. The pictures don’t show how silver it was. There were little strings of silver like tinsel, which would have made it more of a Christmas sweater, but I wanted to show it for Thanksgiving.

Wearing Clothes That Scare Me: Bodycon Dress

In this episode of “Wearing Clothes That Scare Me”, I will be featuring the bodycon dress. Bodycon dresses leave nothing to be hidden. There is no cover-up for problem areas, you can’t scrunch a certain way to hide things and for me, that is nerve-wracking. My problem area is my tummy, and I try my best to make sure that I am uber comfortable in what I’m wearing. I’m not good with tight things because they bring attention to my stomach and I do not like that. This doesn’t mean that I am not in love with my body (in like, we still working on our relationship) but I’m aware of the things that make me self-conscious and I avoid them like the plague. That’s why buying this dress was such a big deal to me, I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and see what I felt like. Trying it on at home is different than wearing it out in public, so I just had to go for it.Read More »

Goodbye Spooky Season, Hello Cozy Season

The leaves on the trees are starting to change colors, it’s getting dark earlier, your car windows are foggy in the morning, you know what that sounds like? Sounds like Fall weather has finally hit us, and I couldn’t be happier! I am not a huge Halloween fan – I did, however, pass out candy this year (Yay, Adulting). But I am a huge Fall weather fan and will not hesitate to tell anyone and everyone. No more sweating while getting ready to go out, or sweating just by standing outside, or sweating just anywhere but the gym. I am looking forward to sitting outside with my fire pit lit and a nice cup of warm wine. I’ll have to say though – my favorite thing about Fall is SWEATERS! There is nothing like putting on your favorite sweater and enjoying the warmth that it gives you. You can dress sweaters up or down, it really doesn’t matter, they are extremely versatile. Sweaters are probably my favorite item of clothing. So, below I have 5 different outfits featuring some of my favorite sweaters from my wardrobe.Read More »

My New Favorite Sweater x3

So, you’ve all seen me do this before! I pick an item of clothing and develop three different looks. This sweater is probably my favorite purchase this season. It’s a gorgeous neutral color and a very pretty shape. Kudos to the Target brand A New Day for always coming with the goodness. The sweater is very soft and creates a sort of “oversized” look, which is absolutely bomb. If you’re like me, you don’t always want something form-fitting. It is also EXTREMELY budget friendly with a price point of only $24.99.

How Blogging Improved…Everything!

When I decided I wanted to start blogging it was roughly a year before when I actually started blogging. I had so many stipulations in my mind, which made me stop myself from continuing my dreams. I told myself that the plus-sized blogging market was already so saturated that my opinion or my views wouldn’t really matter. But I decided to start blogging anyway and I am so happy that I did. Because of blogging my life has improved, and I am so much happier with the quality of it.

Let’s Celebrate the End of Summer with…Dresses!

Are you excited for fall? Are you already mourning the end of summer? This summer was amazing for me and a lot happened that changed my point of view on life. On July 21, 2019, I started my blog and that has opened so many doors for me. My confidence has skyrocketed and so has my overall happiness. I’ve learned new things about style and fashion, and I am so excited for the new season. I also applied, got accepted, and started grad school at UMBC. I started trying new things and in turn, started enjoying life even more. So, to commemorate the summer I decided to put on some of my favorite white dresses to symbolize understanding, spirituality, protection, and perfection. And since Fall starts tomorrow, I figured this would be the perfect way to end a great summer.
