I Got 2020 Vision

Guys…it is almost the new year. It is nearly time to start seeing “new year, new me” on every Instagram post, Facebook status, Twitter tweet, and whatever other social platforms we use. People always say it but end up having the same year over and over and over again. I do not want that for me in 2020, and I am looking forward to creating, not a new Shanice, but a better one. Starting a new year means that you have a blank canvas to paint on and add to your collection. It doesn’t mean that you scrap the old painting and start all over. The start of a new year doesn’t mean that you have to reinvent yourself, you shouldn’t be doing that anyway. A new year should be seen as an opportunity, rather than a chance to become a new you. Carry all of the mistakes and lessons over and ensure that you make the changes necessary to create a better situation for yourself.Read More »

Long Story Short: I Look Like a Present

Christmas is literally on Wednesday, which means the end of the year is upon us, but we’ll talk about that another day! As we near the end of the year, I am going to be reflecting on certain things and just giving you guys a recap of this year. I am honestly looking forward to 2020 and what it holds for me. However, today, I am here to talk about this shirt that made me look like the cutest Christmas present ever. Also, about Christmas and what it means to me, but mostly the top.Read More »

Tips for Plus-Sized Ladies

When I first released my blog in July, I had no idea the kind of support or feedback I would receive. One of the most common comments that I received was that women never had someone to tell them or show them how to style their plus-sized bodies or what to wear in general. I understand and can sympathize, trust me! My body changes and has changed over the past few years, I had to learn to dress my body and know what’s right for me. So, I wanted to share my growing knowledge with you guys. Now I usually gear my posts toward plus-sized women, but this can go for any size woman or even men. Read More »

Deconstructed Suit

Hello, and welcome back to my blog page. Today we’re going to be discussing suits. Okay, I couldn’t last with the seriousness too long. Well, we are going to be talking suits, specifically one suit, so that part was genuine. BUT Hello everyone, how are ya? I hope your week was awesome, mine left something to be desired that’s for sure! This week I decided it was finally time to wear the suit that I had been holding on to for quite some time. I’m not really super into suits, but I have seen the rise in trend over the last year. So, I thought I would show you guys how I styled my suit together and separately. Suits are not in my regular work repertoire, but I have an intense fascination with wearing a suit to a formal event with some type of lacey bodysuit and some sky-high stilettos. That’s going to stay a fantasy for a while because me and sky-high stilettos do not typically work out, I do the weird buckle that Kevin Hart talked about in his comedy special.Read More »

Jackets…. But Make Them Different!

We’re still in Fall, correct? I mean, the weather outside has been, dare I say, frightful? It seems that winter is upon us, and with it comes this dreadful, freezing, cold weather. It’s cold enough to wear Ugg boots, but we still got a week, or two left to leave our jackets open so people can see the entire outfit. I’m not sure about you guys, but I get hot very quickly. So, for me, it’s almost always okay to leave your jacket open. Unless you have to be outside for an extended period of time, in which case you should probably bundle up and not wear any of the jackets I’m featuring below.Read More »

Beans, Greens, Potatoes, Tomatoes

Guys! Did you know that Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday? Probably not and that’s okay but now you know! I don’t just love the holiday for the large amounts of mac and cheese, but because it’s one of the holidays where everyone gathers and it’s not because they got a gift waiting. You see your family in one room, and everyone is extremely happy, laughing, and talking. You always see that one cousin that you don’t really talk to daily but when you get together it’s nothing but good vibes. The home that you go to smells like love and happiness. I just absolutely adore Thanksgiving. So, I thought it would be fitting to discuss Thanksgiving outfits. Now, everyone’s family is different. Some Thanksgiving dinners are super upscale, so you have to wear your absolute best clothing. Some are less upscale and because you live in the host home, you’re probably going to wear pajamas. My family is somewhere in between, we dress nice, but nobody is coming to dinner dripped in diamonds and pearls. We are comfortable classy, which is right up my alley. Read More »

Wearing Clothes That Scare Me: Bodycon Dress

In this episode of “Wearing Clothes That Scare Me”, I will be featuring the bodycon dress. Bodycon dresses leave nothing to be hidden. There is no cover-up for problem areas, you can’t scrunch a certain way to hide things and for me, that is nerve-wracking. My problem area is my tummy, and I try my best to make sure that I am uber comfortable in what I’m wearing. I’m not good with tight things because they bring attention to my stomach and I do not like that. This doesn’t mean that I am not in love with my body (in like, we still working on our relationship) but I’m aware of the things that make me self-conscious and I avoid them like the plague. That’s why buying this dress was such a big deal to me, I wanted to step outside of my comfort zone and see what I felt like. Trying it on at home is different than wearing it out in public, so I just had to go for it.Read More »
