I think the hardest request a person could ask is “tell me about yourself”. For some reason when asked that question people clam up and forget every single detail about themselves. Either that or they start to spit off insignificant details about themselves, like the fact that you still wear footy pajamas or something along those lines. I’m going to tell you about myself and hopefully none of these details you find insignificant. First and foremost, if you don’t already know my name is Shanice Crossfield. I am currently 26 years of age and reside in Baltimore, Maryland. I was born on April 20th, 1993 in St. Catherine, Jamaica and will not hesitate to tell you all about my Jamaican-ness if you meet me in person. Yes, I am beyond aware of what “holiday” falls on my birthday. I have a bachelors degree in human resources management and will attend school this fall to get my masters degree in industrial and organizational psychology (wish me luck). I have 2 fur babies, Milo my cat and Chippy my mal-shi. I love music and will often be seen riding around Baltimore playing my music loudly and singing rather off-key. I am extremely close to my family and I keep my friendship circle very small. I am a shop-a-holic, which means you will always find me scrolling through my clothing store apps on my phone. My close friends and family, should you ever meet them, will tell you that I am a sweet person who has a big heart and cares about everyone who crosses my path. They will also tell you that I’m a little weird and have a strong obsession with Pandas.
Now that we’ve gotten the basic things out the way, let’s get to the deeper stuff. There are so many bloggers, some plus-sized and some not, and they all have unique personas, tastes, and styles. Some people would shy away from this and not even think twice to enter into something that has already been done several times. But, then I thought of someone like Rihanna, who entered into an industry that was already littered with brands and where some people had already made a massive name for themselves like Kylie Jenner. She started Fenty Beauty anyway. Just because someone has done it before, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. You are a unique person and will do things differently. Rihanna did it and look where she is at right now. I would like to be clear I’m not doing this for recognition or to get more followers or to be “instafamous”. If I was, this would be short-lived and very mundane. I’m doing this because I am passionate about style/fashion and this blog. I would love to reach someone and have a positive impact on their lives. My hope for this blog is that the audience receives my message well and that I make a difference to those who read it.
This won’t be just a run-of-the-mill fashion blog. I will try to let my personality and my passion shine through every word I write or speak (on my YouTube channel). I’ll talk about everything from fashion to societal issues and how I cope with them. I’ll let you guys into my life through these forms of expression. This is my journey and it’s only getting started. #letsgetthroughthistogether
